The
wooden rosette light-fitting shown and discussed in earlier images is
shown here without the N-Compass router compass jig that was used to cut
it. The point of this workpiece is to demonstrate the ability of the N-Compass
to cut very small diameter circles and arcs with a standard ¼-inch plunger
type router which is not possible with conventional trammel beam compass
systems.
The smallest cutting circle here is 7mm in radius whilst the outer ring
is 55mm with a range of concentric router cuts in between. The N-Compass
is a highly accurate compass tool that allows the router operator to undertake
precision operations when cutting circles and arcs and is ideally suited
to delicate woodworking tasks such as musical instrument construction.
