Choose a diamond stone grade, pop it on the carriage and slide the chisel in. Hold the chisel still and let the diamond do the work as you slide the carriage back and forth.

The DMT stone sharpens across the width of the blade so any microscopic striations or grooves run laterally rather than across the blade edge. The result is claimed to be a finer, quicker edge for less work.
